Mission

The mission of In The Mitten Productions is to inspire all dreamers with unique and inspiring opportunities in theatre and the performing arts. Our goal with each program is to build confidence, educate and have fun!  We believe theatre is for everyone - no matter where you come from, what you look like or how you identify.  We continue to work to build inclusive and equitable opportunities for all.

History

Kim Gearns has been involved with the Farmington Hills Youth Theatre for over 20 years.  In 2016, when Farmington Hills Youth Theatre was looking for a new partner for their youth program, Kim and a great group of theater professionals formed In the Mitten Productions.  Since then, ITMP has grown to produce over 70 productions in Farmington Hills and Novi, including several virtual productions during the pandemic. ITMP is proud of its amazing crew of over 30 theatre, education and industry experienced members.  ITMP added summer camps in 2018, individual voice, piano and dance lessons in 2022 and workshops in 2025. ITMP has been a finalist in the Hour Detroit Best in Community Theatre multiple times and is the proud recipient of the 2026 Farmington Area Arts Advocacy Award. We continue to create an outstanding experience for performers in Metro Detroit.
